Chronoshift was never going to go past a patch in early season 2, and was not designed to compete with the live game. Chronoshift has not interacted with the live game, or live game accounts, in any way, shape or form. We never distributed any copyrighted material - all old game files can still be directly downloaded from Riot's CDN. To our best knowledge, and the assessment of the lawyers specialized in IT copyright we talked the project over with, we have not done anything illegal. We have refused and banned people that offered us thousands of dollars to gain access to the project. We never asked for even as much a donation during all of this time, paying all of the expenses out of our pockets. We have been working on this project for almost 5 years and thousands of hours. Today, Riot Games security department has contacted us, and tried to extort us into handing over our code and website to them. You can find gameplay footage of our project on YouTube by searching for "Chronoshift" You might have heard of us as the team working on a "legacy server" for a 10 year old version of League of Legends. I am one of the developers of the Chronoshift project. Google shows this email as having a valid DKIM signature: I have redacted the names of our developer as well as their email address so any checksums may not match. Update 2: A number of people have asked to see the original email. They would have no say in this either way No matter what, please do not harass Riot developers online. In the interest of honesty, we have reached out directly to Riot Games support as some have suggested to try and get to the bottom of this. We were contacted via a email by someone who knew private details about one of our devs which would be available via their Riot Games account. UPDATE: We have read a number of comments raising legitimate concerns about the validity of this threat.
